The FGD3 Flammable Gas Detector uses 'pellistor' technology to detect a wide range of hydrocarbons, fuel gases and hydrogen. The sensor can be set to detect either methane or general hydrocarbons. Pellistor sensors can be fitted to detect hydrocarbons over the range 0 to 100% Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) or 0 to 100% Volume gas. The detectors use the industry standard 4-20mA current loop to convey the gas levels detected to a control unit such as the LC Commercial.
Methane, butane and propane are commonly used in laboratories (such as use with bunsen burners) and are highly flammable. The installation of a simple detector such as the FGD3 is an ideal safety solution for your laboratory.
The FGD3 is simply wall mounted in the room or area where the flammable gas is stored or piped. It then provides a signal to the laboratory’s building management system or to the LC Commercial panel. The FGD3 is even suitable for Zone 1 or Zone 2 areas.
